About The Jam Cats...

The Jam Cats is owned and operated by Dorian J (DJ) Johnston, known to hundreds of kids affectionately as Mr. DJ. Mr. DJ’s unique and multi-faceted music program will travel to your school, daycare center or location to add an exciting music class to your child’s curriculum each week and take kids of all ages on a magical musical adventure!

The Jam Cats provide a fun and nurturing environment in which children will be introduced to music through singing, movement and response to rhythmic patterns. They will enjoy a curriculum that includes instrument discovery and learning the basic fundamentals of music such as rhythm, pitch and dynamics. The curriculum, songs and learning materials used during classes and shows are specifically chosen and created to be developmentally appropriate for each individual group.

Along with their regular schedule of schools, parties and appearances, Mr. DJ and The Jam Cats perform two separate weekly programs for children with special needs and they recently performed a very special show for the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation of New York.

Music can be defined as the art of expressing or causing emotion by the melodious and harmonious combination of notes and or rhythms. Recent studies suggest that playing and listening to music at a young age improves learning, memory, reasoning ability and general creativity. Research also supports the theory that young children who are exposed to music develop enhanced cognitive skills.
